European Union report highlights value of LTC Technology Print
In its final evaluation of the Aladdin Project (www.aladdin-project.org) the European Union, who funded the research, particularly emphasized the importance of the multilingual component supplied by LTC and recommended that it be developed further.

LTC contributed its expertise and its LTC Communicator (www.ltc-communicator.com) technology to the project, which developed a multilingual mobile destination system for the tourist industry. It combines a mobile incoming tour operator workspace with a mobile content and service management system for destinations. Using a combination of a workflow engine with proven linguistic technologies such as machine translation and translation memory with the option of human post editing, LTC Communicator offers instant automated translation options to users. The main advantage of the solution is the fact that the sophisticated multilingual processing takes place in the background without the user noticing.

“We are very happy about the EU recommendation regarding LTC Communicator”, said Dr. Adriane Rinsche, LTC’s Managing Director and leader of the development of LTC Communicator, “It is obvious that the European Commission has understood the need to overcome language barriers in global information exchange. LTC Communicator is very versatile and can be implemented in any circumstance where instant raw or near real time high-quality translation is needed. It is already used in e-learning and online helpdesk scenarios, so we are very excited to have had the chance to deploy it in yet another, completely different field.”

In its report the European Union emphasized that the multilingual component is of particular interest in the face of the growing demand in global tourism, and that it may aid to improve understanding and intercultural interaction. It urged LTC and its partners to develop this component further.

LTC, based in London, UK and Washington DC, USA specializes in the development of workflow and business systems for global companies with multilingual needs.
