LTC Joins the United Nations Global Compact |

|
Advancing its commitment to sustainability and corporate citizenship, The Language Technology Centre (LTC) has joined some 4,700 corporate participants and stakeholders from over 130 countries by enlisting in the United Nations Global Compact. This is the largest corporate citizenship and sustainability initiative of its kind in the world.
Global Compact embodies the objectives of both the international community and business world. With the ever-increasing trend towards interconnectedness - a by-product of globalisation - the objectives of these two groups have never been more closely aligned.
As a member of the UN Global Compact, LTC seeks to embrace, support and enact - within its sphere of influence - a set of core values in the areas of human rights, labour standards, the environment and anti-corruption:
Human Rights
- Principle 1: LTC supports and respects the protection of internationally proclaimed human rights; and
- Principle 2: is not complicit in human rights abuses.
Labour Standards
- Principle 3: LTC upholds freedom of association and the effective recognition of the right to collective bargaining;
- Principle 4: the elimination of all forms of forced and compulsory labour;
- Principle 5: the effective abolition of child labour; and
- Principle 6: the elimination of discrimination in respect of employment and occupation.
Environment
- Principle 7: LTC supports a precautionary approach to environmental challenges;
- Principle 8: undertakes initiatives to promote greater environmental responsibility; and
- Principle 9: encourages the development and diffusion of environmentally friendly technologies.
Anti-Corruption
- Principle 10: LTC works against corruption in all its forms, including extortion and bribery.
